Member Profiles - Gift Baskets and Other Art

After 30 years in the sales and service of insurance products in the Durham Region, Kathy Stroud was eager to pursue a new venture in which she could express her creative side. Kathy has always had a passion for art and design and had taken many courses over the years in watercolour, folk art, interior decorating, flower arranging, gourmet cooking and various other crafts.

Using these talents, Kathy proudly began Gift Baskets & Other Art in March 200l and now designs beautiful gift baskets that are unique and fun for individuals and corporations. "We carry gourmet food items, products for bath and relaxation, garden, kitchen, bridal showers, baby and much more. We can make up gift arrangements for almost any theme," says Kathy. "'If you have an idea, we will make every attempt to get the perfect gift for your loved one or client."

From the "Other Art" department, orders are taken for custom wood working and decorative painting. A gift basket does not always have to be a basket. Consider a small wooden blanket box or child's Muskoka chair as your container. Or purchase the wooden article as the gift itself. On request, a decorative design could be added to the finished product to suit the recipient of the gift.

With people being so busy, it's not always easy to get out to shop for special gifts or to even know what to buy. Kathy adds, "We like to think of our business as a service organization.
